Okay thanks, i have a little problem, i might of changed some setting or something idk. I Have the hi-hat on one voice and the bass and snare on another. The 2 voices dont line up right, it plays right, but the voice with the hi-hat on is kind of to the right of the other voice. When i go to input the hihat it looks like it would line up with the grey note when u input it but it places it to the right. Idk if that makes any sense, its very annoying. If anyone could help me out with this that would be great. Since anyone prob knows Sibelius better then me.
Thanks

That drives me crazy too. Sibilus is just so badly done from a programming perspective.
To work around it, take the properties window and adjust the x position of the relevant notes -1.63. (Thats 1.63 units to the left. That causes everything to line up exactly for me if you magnify it, YMMV.)
Dan: Is there any easy way to transpose all notes of a certain line (eg tom 1) to a different line (tom 2)? I figure the transpose feature should do this, but it won't work for me.
I was kinda thinking of putting up a how-to guide based on my experiences of (attempted) speed converting guitar pro tabs to Sibilus scores (export midi from GP -> import), but.... effort.

hold shift and click the notes you want to move then use the up and down cursor keys to move them up and down the stave.
i emailed kev about the alignment issue, its dead easy. For anything high up on the stave (eg the riding part such as hi hats or ride) you need to make sure your using voice 1. It should be automatically activated as default but to do it look in the bottom right corner at the console thing. at the very bottom are the number 1 2 3 4 in clickable boxes and there all different colours, these control which voice you are editing. So click 1 (this is blue on mine) to do your riding part then all other parts (bass/snares etc...) i go to 2 (green on mine). You will find the beams all align correctly this way.
hope that helps!

Hi, I have another Sibelius question - one that's even lower down the 'how to' ladder.
How do I show the cymbals as different from the drum voices?

in the navigation box (default position is at the bottom right of the screen)
find the 'notes' section and click to reveal the drop down menu.
you then have a drop down box where you can change the note head to a whole load of different things (including a cymbal X)

OK, thanks for answering Dan. Unfortunately, I can't get the notes menu to show me anything useful.
I've got the Demo version of Sibelius 5, if that makes any difference - perhaps I need to actually shell out some cash ......
All it shows me is a Navigator window on the left hand side, which just moves me around the scoresheet. And a notes keypad on the right-hand side. This is the bit that lets me put the notes on the score, but I can't change the note diagrams.
Sorry for being so clueless, thanks for your patience...

Dan--
If we transcribe a song, can we email the file to you for you to post on this site? Obviously you'd probably have a do some editing, but that way we could get an insane amount of song on here if everyone pitched in.
